Ivan Girard is a New York based, award-winning director and creative director with 17 years of experience. He boasts a unique skillset that puts an emphasis on striking visuals and story-driven, innovative ideas. Ivan grew up in Paris, immersed in all the cultural riches the city has to offer and grew a deep interest in graphic novels, art, videography and last but not least, photography. He studied Fine Arts at University Paris 8 and went on to graduate with an art degree from one of the top animation schools in Europe, Ecole George Méliès. 

After a brief chapter as a graphic novel author, Ivan joined Mikros and later BUF Compagnie, two of France’s most renowned studios. Beginning as an animator and compositing artist, he decided to focus on concept design, developing characters, environments and creatures for feature films (Wachowski’s Speed Racer, Thor, the infamous 2011’s Green Lantern, Fast & Furious 4…).

Driven by a passion for travel and cultural exchange, Ivan relocated to London, where he worked as a Concept Designer and Matte Painter for some of the world’s leading post-production studios such as the Moving Picture Company, Framestore, Cinesite. He worked on Prince of Persia, Sherlock Holmes, John Carter, Narnia, Harry Potter, James Bond : Skyfall, Mad Max : Fury Road to name a few.

He later joined Method Studios, eventually transferring to New York City to continue his collaboration for 12 years. He expanded his design knowledge and leadership skills to become Creative Director, supervising and directing high-profile projects such as Uncharted, Disney’s 100th celebration, Google and Snapchat campaigns and overseeing productions on set and through final delivery for clients including Apple, HBO, Netflix, Atlas Entertainment, Universal, BBDO.

Ivan is now freelance Creative Director and offers his creative services through his studio Enfant Terrible.

Outside of commercial work, Ivan dedicates much of his time to travel photography, documenting cultures and capturing moments of extraordinary and ordinary lives around the globe. As the son of French and Cameroonian parents, he remains deeply inspired by both the diversity of human experience and the universal connections that unite us.
